Tummy Tuck

Flatten abdomen by removing excess fat and skin and tightening muscles of abdominal wall.

Results: Variable, implant may require removal or replacement in the future

 

Breast Lift
(Mastopexy)
Procedure:
Raise and reshape sagging breast by removing excess skin and repositioning the remaining tissue and nipples.
Duration of procedure: 1 Hour
Anaesthesia: Local with sedation, or general.
In/Outpatient: Usually outpatient
Recovery: Feeling better and back to work: 1 week or more.
Strenuous activities: 1 month.
Fading of scars: Several months to a year.
Results: Variable: - gravity, pregnancy, aging may cause new sagging. Results may last longer when combined with implants.

 

Cosmetic Laser Resurfacing (CLR)
Procedure:
Smoothing out of fine and moderate wrinkles around the eyes, mouth and cheeks, restores blemished, unevenly pigmented or sun-damaged skin using a carbon dioxide laser beam to remove the skin's top layers. Also used to remove acne scarring. Best results are with fair, thin skin.
Duration of procedure: 60-90 minutes for full face.
Anaesthesia: Local with sedation, or general.
In/Outpatient: Office procedure if under local anaesthetic. Day case theatre if general anaesthetic.
Recovery: Formation of new skin: 3-5 days. Normal activities: 7-10 days. Full healing and fading of redness: 3-6 months. A pre and post Laser Treatment Pack is available which aids more rapid healing and helps achieve a more favourable end result.

 

Injections for Wrinkles & Skin Depressions
(Perlane Injections)
Procedure:
Plumping up of creased, furrowed or sunken facial skin or to add fullness to lips. Works best on thin, dry, light coloured skin.
Duration of procedure: 15 Minutes to 1 hour per session.
Anaesthesia: Local anaesthetic.
In/Outpatient: Outpatient.
Results: Restylane: Last 6 months – 1/12

Procedure:
Correct drooping upper eyelids and puffy bags if below the eyes by removing fat, skin and muscle. (May be covered by medical aid id used to improve vision).
Amnesiac: Usually local with sedation, occasionally general
In/Outpatient: Generally outpatient.
Recovery: Reading: 2-3 days. Back to work: 7 days.
Contact lenses: 2 weeks or more.
Strenuous activities: about 3 weeks.
Bruising and swelling disappearance: Several weeks.
Results: Several years. Sometimes permanent.

 

Facelift
(Rhytidectomy)
Procedure:
Improve sagging facial skin, jowls and loose neck skin by removing excess fat, tightening muscles, re-draping skin. Most often done on men and woman over 40.
Duration of procedure: Several hours.
Anaesthesia: Local with sedation, or general anaesthetic.
In/Outpatient: Usually Outpatient.
Recovery: Back to work: 10-14 days. More strenuous activity: 2 weeks or more. Bruising: 2-3 weeks. Must limit exposure to sun for several months.
Results: Usually 5-10 years.

 

Prominent Ears
(Otoplasty)
Procedure:
Set back prominent ears by scoring the ear cartilage and creating the natural folds in the cartilage of the ear. The ear is then wrapped up and allowed to heal and “set” in a more aesthetically pleasing position.
Duration of procedure: 45-60 minutes.
Anaesthesia: Local or general anaesthetic.
Recovery: Head bandage worn for 1 week. Sweat band or “snow cap” to be worn for 3 weeks thereafter at night only.
Results: Permanent

 

Facial Implants
Procedure:
Change the basic shape and balance of the face using carefully styled implants to build up a receding chin, add prominence to cheekbones or reshape the jaw line, implants may be made of natural or artificial materials.
Duration of procedure: 30 minutes to 2 hours.
Anaesthesia: Local with sedation, or general.
In/Outpatient: Usually outpatient.
Recovery: Back to work: about 1 week. Normal appearance: 2-4 weeks. Activity that could bump or jar face: 6 weeks or more.

 

Liposuction
Procedure:
Improve body shape using tube and vacuum device to remove unwanted fat deposits that do not respond to dieting and exercise. Locations include chin, cheeks, neck, upper arms, above breast, abdomen, buttocks, hips, thighs, knees, calves, ankles.
Duration of procedure: 1-2 hours or more, depending on the extent of the surgery.
Anaesthesia: Small procedures: Local anaesthetic with sedation. Large procedures: general anaesthetic.
In/Outpatient: Usually outpatient. Extensive procedures may require short inpatient stay.
Recovery: Back to work: 1-2 weeks. More strenuous activity: 2-4 weeks. Swelling and bruising: 1-6 months or more.

Nose Surgery
(Rhinoplasty)
Procedure:
Reshape nose by reducing or increasing size, removing hump, changing shape of tip or bridge, narrowing span of nostrils, or changing angle between nose and upper lip. May also relieve certain breathing problems.

Skin Peel
Procedure:
A choice of peels are available, dependent on the problem. Performed at the office to improve the complexion and general texture of the skin. Useful for removing fine wrinkles as well as pigmentation marks. May be applied to certain areas of the body where one may have pigmented or old trauma or burn scarring. (Assessment of suitability carried out at a consultation).
Duration of procedure: Approximately 30 minutes per session. Dependant on extent problem, may require a number of sessions.
Anaesthesia: None required.
In/Outpatient: Office procedure.
Recovery: 1-3 days
Result: With a maintenance programme – permanent.

 

Lip Augmentation
Procedure:
This procedure involves the injection of a special substance into the lips which has the effect of creating fuller, more youthful lips.
Duration of procedure: 20 minutes.
Anaesthesia: Local anaesthetic.
In/Outpatient: Office procedure.
Recovery: 24 hours.
Result: A year to 18 months or longer.

 

Botox injections
Procedure:
This procedure is indicated for deep frown or worry lines which occur on the forehead and in the area between the eyebrows. Botolinium toxin paralysis the muscles in the area of deep frown lines. The effect last for about six months after which it can be repeated.
The duration of the effects lasts longer with each subsequent injection.
Duration of procedure: 20 minutes.
Anaesthesia: Local anaesthetic.
In/Outpatient: Office procedure.
Recovery: 24 hours.
Results: About 6 months.
